Supporting SSAFA

Supporting Our Armed Forces Community
At Versalift, we believe in supporting the communities that support us. That’s why we were honoured to welcome SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, to our site. Their visit was an eye-opening experience, highlighting the invaluable work they do for service personnel, veterans, and their families.
Who is SSAFA?
Founded in 1885, SSAFA (Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association) is the UK’s oldest national tri-service charity. Their mission is simple yet powerful: to provide lifelong support to the Armed Forces, veterans and their families.
From financial aid and housing assistance to mental health support and bereavement counselling, SSAFA ensures that no member of the Armed Forces community is left behind.
Why SSAFA’s Work is More Important Than Ever
Leaving military service can be a challenging transition. Many veterans struggle with employment, housing, and mental health issues, while families often face difficulties adjusting to civilian life.
Here are just a few reasons why SSAFA’s work is so crucial:
Financial Hardship – Many ex-service personnel face unemployment or financial instability after leaving the military. SSAFA helps them get back on their feet.
Mental Health & PTSD Support – The emotional toll of service can be significant. SSAFA provides access to counselling, therapy, and peer support.
Family & Housing Assistance – From helping military families cope with deployment to providing emergency accommodation, SSAFA is a lifeline for those in need.
As a nation, we owe our Armed Forces more than just gratitude – we owe them support.
SSAFA’s Visit to Versalift
During their visit, the SSAFA team shared their mission, their ongoing projects, and how companies like Versalift can make a difference.
They also expressed their appreciation for our support and emphasised the importance of corporate partnerships in raising awareness and funding their vital work.
The session was inspiring, reminding us that even small contributions, whether through donations, volunteering, or simply spreading the word, can make a huge difference.

Civilian Life Support: Assist those in need by guiding someone transitioning out of the Armed Forces to civilian life through their Mentoring Service; help those seeking financial, practical or emotional support as a Community Volunteer, or help to alleviate loneliness and isolation as a Visitor or Community Connection Champion.
