At Versalift, we can provide training on-site at our UK HQ, using our latest facilities, or at your own premises – providing you meet the requirements of providing a classroom and the use of a suitably certified machine for the duration of the course.
IPAF Training
Have You Got Your PAL Card?
As an IPAF (International Powered Access Federation) accredited training centre, Versalift UK provides operator training courses for the IPAF Powered Access License (PAL card).
Valid for five years, this is the most widely held and recognised proof of training for platform operators. The PAL Card (Powered Access Licence) conforms to the international standard ISO 18878.

Covers the safe operation of static vertical MEWPs (e.g. vertical personnel lifts) and includes advanced safety procedures for the 1a+ category.
Focuses on operating static boom MEWPs (e.g. spider, trailer-mounted or truck-mounted booms), with the 1b+ category providing enhanced safety training.
Trains operators on self-propelled vertical MEWPs (e.g. scissor lifts) with the 3a+ course offering additional safety measures.
Covers the use of self-propelled boom lifts (cherry pickers), with the 3b+ training including advanced safety techniques.
PAV (Push Around Vertical) provides training for manually propelled vertical lifts, ensuring safe and effective operation.
IAD (Insulated Aerial Device) focuses on the safe use of insulated aerial devices, often used for electrical work at height.

Operators
This course instructs an operator to prepare and safely operate various types of MEWPs.
Demonstrators
This course trains a demonstrator to familiarise operators with their responsibilities and demonstrate pre-operational and safe operating procedures and the limitations of MEWPs.
MEWPs for Managers
MEWPs for Managers is the essential, one-day course for those who plan, supervise and manage the use of mobile elevating work platforms in the workplace.
IAD (Insulated Aerial Device)
This course instructs an operator to prepare and safely operate an insulated platform.
Harness Use and Inspection
This course instructs a user to select, inspect and use a harness and associated equipment safely when using a MEWP.
PDI (Pre-Delivery Inspection)
This pre-delivery inspection course enables trainees to perform PDIs of MEWPs in a structured and systematic way.
Recovery Systems
Versalift UK product specific recovery systems, encompassing mechanical, electrical and combination method systems. Roof, pedestal and chassis-mounted lowering and recovery procedures. Emergency recovery of equipment subject to complete electrical supply failure, engine and emergency backup battery systems.
Manual Handling
Manual handling techniques employed in day to day working environment, suitable for both administrative and manual tasked personnel.
Maintenance
A range of maintenance biased courses: IPAF pre-use inspection, in-use inspection, LOLER awareness, service/maintenance awareness, and IPAF competent person assessments.
