Description of the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Electrical Design Engineer to join the Engineering Team of the UK’s Number 1 Vehicle mounted access platform manufacturer.
Reporting to the Engineering Team Leader, the successful candidate will join a highly focused, passionate team, working on a range of exciting installation projects ranging from 3.5t Pick Up trucks to 16.5t Unimog’s and a vast array of vehicles in-between.
Responsible for (Duties)
- Technical advice by helping to develop Safe Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Technical Instructions (TIs). Specifically, to provide and maintain electrical design information and instructions to the Production team.
- Continuous checking of the conformity to requirements for mounting lift platforms onto an array of vehicles in accordance with BS EN:280 Mobile elevating work platforms, further applicable standards and road regulations. Close cooperation with the international design team to determine best in class solutions.
- Full life cycle design accountability from working with the customer(s) and sales team to capture design requirements for customisations through to supporting the service team.
- BOM compilation onto an Epicor Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) tool, ensuring BOM accuracy to enable Right First-Time production.
- Experience of working in accordance with UKCE (now CA) marking standards.
About You
The successful candidate must be an international team player; they must be intuitively curious and inquisitive with an ingrained interest in engineering. Aside from the pre-requisite of a degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering or a related topic, this design engineer must be a “go-getter”. With significant room for career growth and personal development, this role is for a studious engineer committed to continual improvement (both for themselves and for the company).
Hours of Work
Your normal contractual hours of work are 42 per week: –
7:00am – 4:15pm Monday to Thursday
7.00am – 2.30pm Friday
Hours and days of work may be subject to alteration depending upon the requirements of the business and you will be required to be completely flexible about your working hours and days.

Personal Attributes
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering is essential.
- 2D Cad system minimum, 3D preferable.
- An involving interest in commercial vehicle conversion and modification.
- Working to specific standards and setting a high level of quality is essential.
- Must be adept in taking a high level of task ownership and making safe and high-quality decisions on a day-to-day basis.
- Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies and value stream mapping would be advantageous.
- Have a high degree of personal accountability.
- Be able to work on own their initiative and as part of a collaborative team.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- High attention to detail.
- Proven team player with a teamwork ethos. Open for international cooperation.
